How To Use The New UK BAP Website

This website is best viewed using Internet Explorer 6.x, Netscape 6.x or above

Click on the following links to discover what each of the options in the menu bar means.

1. A quick guide to finding what you are looking for:

  1. Use the Google-powered search to search the entire UKBAP website. Type your search term in the Google search box in the menu bar, and click the Go button. N.B.The <Enter> key on your keyboard will not start the search, you have to click the Go button.

  2. Page-specific searching – some pages have their own search boxes, for example:

    Click on Plans>Action Plans>Species Search in the menu at the top of each page to reach the Species Search page where you can find all the species action plans, or click on Plans>Action Plans>Habitats Search to find the habitat action plans.

    To find Local Biodiversity Action Plans, click on Plans>LBAPs. You will then see further sub menus which give you access to all the Local Biodiversity Action Plans in the UK.

  3. Search the Library

    Click on Library in the menu bar. The Library Search Results page displays a box containing a list of topic areas. Hover with your mouse over a topic area to see a list of the kind of documents to be found there. Click on a topic area to display a list of documents in the UK BAP website library relating to that topic. You can access these documents by clicking on the link in the Title column of the Library Search Results page. There is also a link in the Metadata column of this page which allows you to view the full details about each document (the metadata) including summary, authors, availability etc.

    Documents in the library are either in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or pdf format (a link to the Adobe Acrobat download website is provided on the library pages) or may have been zipped using Winzip (a link is also provided to the Winzip download website).

  4. Minutes, Agenda and Reports from UK Biodiversity Groups

    Each group involved in the management of the UK Biodiversity Action Plan has its own area on the website, accessed by clicking on Who’s Involved?>Management and then the group. Each group page displays information on meetings and also provides links to minutes and agenda, and reports. Some group pages also provide links to other websites where appropriate.

2. What is in each section of the website?

Background

This section provides background information on the UK Biodiversity Action Plan with links to the Convention on Biodiversity, and UK Government reports. Here you can find out about the structure of the UK BAP and view the UK Biodiversity Action Plan timeline.

Who’s Involved?

This section provides details of organisations involved in the UK Biodiversity Action Plan, with links to their websites and information on their involvement.

Here you also find out about the management of the UK Biodiversity Action Plan, including full details of all the groups currently involved, their meetings, minutes, agenda, reports etc. There are also links to the websites of the 4 Country Biodiversity Groups here.

Library

The library section gives access to all the documents, reports, minutes, agenda, terms of reference, links to documents held on other websites, and metadata relating to each item (author, publisher, format, filesize, availability etc.) contained in the UK Biodiversity website library.

Click on Library in the menu bar. The Library Search Results page displays a box containing a list of topic areas.
